WELCOME TO MY NEW WEBSITE WHERE YOU WILL FIND MANY PAINTINGS TO VIEW AND ALSO DISCOVER WHAT I HAVE BEEN UP TO.
I am very lucky to have a studio which is beautifully located overlooking the Trent & Mersy canal in Barnton, Northwich Cheshire.
Inspired by my surroundings and the effect of light, colour and texture, I like to work in a variety of styles and subjects from representational figures and portraits through to colourful contemporary seasonal landscapes and abstracts. I paint mostly in acrylics, oils and watercolours, but use other media as well.
Because of my knowledge of Cheshire and the inland waterways I was priviledged to be commissioned to illustrate ‘The Baggin Man takes the Train’ which was launched on a steam train and The Baggin Man visits the Weaver Valley’ written by John Hulme. I am grateful to John for this as thousands of the books have been widely distributed and have even been sent to distant lands. These are signed in my former name Bernice Barrett-Brown.
I was also honoured to be commissioned to produce a painting which was presented to H.R.H. The Duke of Kent. and it gives me great pleasure that many of my paintings are in private collections in U.S.A. Canada, New Zealand and UK.
Before changing direction and becoming a fine artist, I was previously a freelance international designer of wallpapers and furnishing fabrics, exhibiting in London, Paris, Lille, Frankfurt, New York, Seoul and Tokyo. It is this design background which has contributed so much to my versatility.
As well as art I also enjoy radio broadcasting and have taken the opportunity to explore the local arts scene further when presenting my regular magazine programme on Cheshire FM
